_______________
Maria Pergay's visionary furniture defies trends and fuses tough minimalism with opulent elegance. Suzanne Demisch will explore the legendary French furniture designer's career that spans more than five decades. Pergay designed her first collection of silver objects in 1957 and opened her first shop in 1960. She worked on custom projects for noted figures from Pierre Cardin to the Saudi Royal family. Pergay is renowned for her use of stainless steel which she began exploring in 1968 with the now-iconic Flying Carpet Daybed and Ring Chair. She later combined it to striking effect with mother of pearl, lacquer and precious woods. Pergay, now in her eighties, continues to create work.
