Compiled with her collaboration, Maria Pergay: Complete Works 1957-2010 is the only authoritative reference catalogue on the designer's work. New York and presents detailed descriptions of more than 300 Pergay works, accompanied by both vintage and contemporary photographs, many of which have never previously been reproduced. For Design Miami/Basel, June 14-18, 2011, Demisch Danant will present the first exhibition ever devoted to the work of Joseph André Motte (b. France, 1925), one of the most innovative and highly influential figures of post-war French design, whose contributions have until now remained one of the best kept secrets of Modernism. The Demisch Danant presentation will bring together more than twenty rare examples of Motte's work, most never before exhibited publicy.

Metropolitan Museum of Art acquires Wave Bench by Maria Pergay

We are pleased to announce that the Metropolitan Museum of Art has recently acquired the Wave Bench (1968) by Maria Pergay for its permanent collection. The Wave Bench was first exhibited at the Maison et Jardin exhibition in May 1968 and is one of Pergay's seminal works.

Collecting Design

Adam Lindemann's new book Collecting Design (Taschen) releases in bookstores on December 1. Lindemann chronicles his investigation into the design world with interviews with fellow collectors, select tastemakers, auction experts and the dealers - including Suzanne Demisch.

Krijn de Koning at Design Miami

Design Miami has commissioned Dutch artist Krijn de Koning to create a special installation for this year's fair. De Koning's work, often temporary site-specific installations, deals with the inter-relation between architecture and the way the observer or participant perceives the space. For Design Miami, de Koning will create several 'gathering' areas within the fair in which people can sit, rest, and talk to one another. This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the Netherlands Cultural Services (New York)

Krijn de Koning in De Nieuwe Kerk

Marking De Nieuwe Kerk's 600th anniversary, Krijn de Koning has constructed an accessible 800-square-meter floor on 5-meter-high scaffolding in the interior of the Amsterdam church, incorporating the columns and the roof of the sculpted pulpit by Albert Jansz Vinckenbrinck (1649-1664). Visitors can also look down at Johannes Lutma’s gilded choir screen (1654), and an accessible 2.5-meter-high 'sunk' space with six rooms installed in the middle of the church floor.

Mobiboom: L'explosion du design en France 1945-75

This exhibition explores the prodigious renaissance in furniture design in France from 1945 to 1975. Pressing social and economic conditions following the war as well as the advent of new materials produced a virtual explosion in creativity by a young generation of designers including Pierre Paulin, Joseph-Andre Motte, Pierre Guariche and Olivier Mourgue. The new approach to manufacturing and distribution also fueled their innovative movement.
