Beginning in 1966, Pierre Paulin contributed to the redesign of the exhibition spaces of the Louvre along with designers Joseph André Motte and André Monpoix. The Dos à Dos Chaise was commissioned by the Mobilier National for the galleries of the Louvre and was installed in several areas as bench seating for visitors to the museum.
