Demisch Danant is pleased to congratulate Sheila Hicks, who has been awarded Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur by the French government for her committed service to visual arts. Throughout her 62-year career, Hicks has established herself as one of the most innovative artists of the 20th century. Hicks is renowned for her painterly approach to color, texture, and form, creating large-scale installations, complex bas-reliefs, and sculptures through the medium of fiber.

Hicks’ work is included in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Museum of Modern Art, New York; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois; Victoria and Albert Museum and Tate Modern, London; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Centre George Pompidou, Paris; Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo; and Museo de Bellas Artes, Santiago, and many others.
