Krijn de Koning

The installations of Krijn de Koning are created in a variety of locations - from museums and galleries, to more alternative and artist-run places, to large-scale works for architectural or public environments. Most of the works are temporary site-specific interventions which profoundly change the way in which a visitor perceives the place. The subject of his work is the inter-relation of architecture and site, whether an installation functions as an accessible unit offering a new view into a pre-existing structural context, or directly intervenes upon a given space. His creations turn around, break through, and sometimes simply call attention to the spatial elements that condition the visitor. The combination of profound abstract thinking and an intuitive mind inspires and enables Krijn de Koning to realise interesting and colourful spaces which both command and challenge visual attention.
